Lectures for Special Groups

Writing & Wildlife. Most of my professional talks are some combination of these two subjects. For me they are connected, braided together in my grey matter and, thus, mix readily in my flow of words. Below are my three most popular lectures. They vary in emphasis to meet the interest of your audience. I have a laptop to show photos and/or video, but ask that an LCD projector and screen be provided.

Walking on the Wild Side

In this 45-60 minute multi-media presentation, I show photos and video from some my most memorable animal adventuresat the zoo, in the field and traveling to distinct habitats, including East Africa, the Galapagos Islands and Costa Rica—and discuss how those experiences inspire my writing. The theme promotes the importance of the natural world and the vital connection between humans and animals. Ideal for general audiences.

“Your enthusiasm, spirit, and love of life shine so brightly when you talk about your time with animals and your writing experiences! You are truly and inspiration to children and adults!” — Mikelyn Demory, educator, audience member

A Passionate Life: Wildlife and Writing Intertwined

This 30-45 minute program shares bits from my personal history—challenges and decisions that ferried me from veterinary technician, to television producer to author and illustrator. The theme is moving past fear to follow your dreams and is well-suited for general audiences.
